Synopsis
White God (Fehér Isten, 2014) — a Hungarian-German drama by Kornél Mundruczó — is available to watch online on iFILM. Thirteen-year-old Lili is left with her father, who dumps her mixed-breed dog Hagen on the Budapest streets rather than pay the registration fee for a non-pedigree animal.
Hagen drifts through the city, falls into the hands of brutal trainers, and ends up in a municipal pound. Lili searches everywhere. Back in the shelter, Hagen organizes a mass breakout — hundreds of abandoned dogs flooding the streets in a wave of controlled fury. Mundruczó pulled it off without CGI: every scene was built around real trained strays, which makes the chaos feel genuinely unsettling. The film took the Prix Un Certain Regard at Cannes 2014, chosen unanimously from twenty competing titles.
Stream White God (2014) on iFILM — an allegory about rejection and reckoning, told entirely from the point of view of those left behind.
