Synopsis
Just Before I Go (2015) is an American dark comedy-drama directed by Courteney Cox — watch it online on iFILM in her feature directorial debut. Seann William Scott plays Ted Morgan, a man whose wife has left him and who has made up his mind to end his life, but decides first to go back to his hometown and face the people he blames for making him who he is.
The plan is methodical: track down the bully who made school miserable, confront the math teacher who specialized in humiliation, say the things that went unsaid. But life at his brother's house is chaotic enough to keep derailing the schedule. His brother's marriage is falling apart. His nephew is dealing with his own darkness. And a neighbor played by Olivia Thirlby has a direct way of talking that cuts through Ted's rehearsed despair.
Cox handles the subject without sentimentality or easy uplift — the film earns its turns because Ted actually has to reckon with how much of his damage he owns. Seann William Scott does some of the most understated work of his career here. Stream Just Before I Go (2015) on iFILM.
