Synopsis
La Collectionneuse (1967) — watch online on iFILM the third of Éric Rohmer's Six Moral Tales, shot on the Côte d'Azur by cinematographer Néstor Almendros.
Adrien and his painter friend take a seventeenth-century Riviera villa for the summer with one shared ambition: to do nothing at all. Their plan is disrupted by Haydée, a young woman who drifts through men — enough of them to earn the "collector" label. Patrick Bauchau plays Adrien, a man who resolves not to give in. He narrates his own resistance in careful monologue, constructing moral rules as he goes and quietly bending them.
No plot twists. Rohmer makes a film out of conversation — about temptation, about the self-justifying stories people tell themselves, about what virtue even means with nothing to do all summer. Haydée Politoff's Haydée is not a femme fatale; she simply exists, and the men theorize. Watch La Collectionneuse online on iFILM.
