Jeanne teaches philosophy at a lycée. Her boyfriend is away, her own flat is occupied, and she'd rather not go back to her lover's place. At a party she meets Natacha, a student who invites her to stay in her father's barely-used Paris apartment. The two grow close fast. But Natacha has a scheme of her own: ease out her father's current girlfriend and slot Jeanne into the role instead. Her father, Igor, has no idea any of this is in motion.
Rohmer stays true to form — long conversations, not a single gunshot, everything riding on small gestures and awkward silences. The camera catches a Paris spring with none of the postcard gloss.
