Synopsis
Master of the Flying Guillotine (1976) is a Hong Kong martial-arts cult classic you can watch online on iFILM. Director and star Jimmy Wang Yu plays the One-Armed Boxer, a retired fighter running a quiet kung-fu school.
His peace ends when a blind Imperial assassin comes hunting. The killer's weapon is the title's flying guillotine — a hat ringed with blades that beheads with a single throw. He wants revenge: the Boxer killed two of his students in an earlier fight. A grand martial-arts tournament draws them together, where a Thai boxer, a yoga master and a kobujutsu fighter each take their turn.
Wang Yu choreographs combat that outshines the plot — stretching arms, a duel across a red-hot floor, a finale staged in a coffin shop. It's gory, gleefully strange and endlessly quoted; Tarantino championed it, and its fight rhythms echo through games from Mortal Kombat onward. If you like old-school Hong Kong action with zero subtlety, this delivers. Stream Master of the Flying Guillotine (1976) online on iFILM.
