An Open Secret
Be courageous. Report it. Life gets better.
Synopsis
An Open Secret (2014) is an American documentary you can watch online on iFILM, directed by Amy J. Berg — who also made Deliver Us from Evil — and focused on allegations of sexual abuse of teenage actors within the Hollywood entertainment industry. Over 99 minutes, Berg interviews survivors, advocates and former child stars including Corey Feldman and Macaulay Culkin.
Marc Collins-Rector, founder of the Digital Entertainment Network, sits at the center of the accusations. The film was completed but effectively blocked from distribution; Berg and producer Matt Cooke eventually released it online, where it reached a wide audience without studio support. Berg spent years building the case on camera, tracking both the personal accounts of those who came forward and the institutional failures that allowed the abuse to continue.
