Synopsis
House of Hummingbird (2019) is a South Korean coming-of-age drama you can watch online on iFILM. It's the debut feature of writer-director Bora Kim. Seoul, the summer of 1994, seen through the eyes of a fourteen-year-old girl.
Eun-hee draws comics, drifts through first kisses, and barely registers inside her own household. Her parents disappear into the family rice-cake shop, her older brother turns violent, her teachers care only about grades. Then a quiet Chinese-language tutor at cram school actually listens to her — and that small kindness becomes the anchor of a year when everything else is coming apart.
Kim built the script from her own teenage memories, so the film lives in tiny gestures rather than plot: a glance, a held silence, the tension at a dinner table. It swept festival prizes from Berlin to Tribeca and introduced Park Ji-hu as one of Korean cinema's most delicate young talents. Slow, hushed, and deeply felt — for viewers who like big feelings spoken softly. Stream House of Hummingbird (2019) online on iFILM.
