Pancho Villa: The Centaur of the North (Season 1)
Synopsis
Pancho Villa: The Centaur of the North (2023) is a Mexican historical series you can watch online on iFILM. It traces the road of Doroteo Arango — a young man who started out a fugitive and a bandit, on the wrong side of the law, and ended up with a name that rattled governments across the country.
The show follows how that outlaw became Pancho Villa, the commander peasant fighters worshipped and his enemies longed to see dead. It unfolds during the years Mexico burned with revolt against the dictatorship of the early twentieth century. Yet behind the larger-than-life folk hero on horseback, the writers find another man — one fixated on his own legend, determined to carve himself into something bigger than life, and collecting powerful, vengeful enemies as he went. Jorge A. Jiménez takes the title role, with Juan Luis Medina and Leonardo Alonso beside him.
Directed by Rafael Lara Ruiz, this is no polished monument but a portrait of a man with a false bottom: liberator and executioner wrapped into one. It suits viewers drawn to series about real-life rebels like Narcos, where a hero's charisma can't be pried apart from his cruelty.
