Safari

Safari (2009) is a French comedy directed by Olivier Baroux — watch it online on iFILM. Kad Merad plays Richard Dacier, who runs a safari tour agency in South Africa without ever having actually led a tour himself. He inherited the business from his father and stuck to the admin side. Then he lost a poker game to the wrong person.

The local mob boss gives Richard a choice: smuggle a suspicious suitcase across the border inside a tourist group, or watch his old friend and business partner Bako get killed. Richard takes the case. The catch is that he now has to guide a van full of real tourists through the savanna while pretending he knows what he's doing — and while keeping his very nervous VIP passenger from drawing attention. Omar Sy shows up to make an already chaotic expedition considerably worse.

It moves fast, doesn't ask much of the viewer, and Merad's comedic timing carries the whole thing. Stream Safari (2009) online on iFILM.
