Synopsis
"Soap and Water" (Acqua e sapone, 1983) is an Italian comedy you can watch online on iFILM, directed by and starring Carlo Verdone. Rolando, a broke thirty-year-old school janitor, gets mistaken for a well-known theologian over the phone and decides to play along — landing a tutoring job with Sandy, a teenage American model on a fashion tour through Rome.
Sandy figures him out almost immediately and turns the tables: she'll keep quiet if Rolando takes her sightseeing. Their impromptu tour of Rome is the film's real heart — loose, funny, slightly melancholy. Verdone and a young Natasha Hovey build an unlikely friendship neither character could explain, and a youthful Christian De Sica turns up in a supporting role.
