Synopsis
The Piano Forest (ピアノの森, 2007) is a Japanese animated feature you can watch online on iFILM. Director Masayuki Kojima turns a battered piano hidden in the woods into the heart of a quiet coming-of-age drama about music and rivalry.
Kai lives on the rough edge of town and rarely shows up for class, yet he's the only kid who can coax sound out of an instrument everyone else writes off as broken. Shuhei arrives as the polished son of a famous pianist and lands straight in the path of the schoolyard bullies. A dare at the forest piano pulls the two boys together, then slowly pushes them apart as a competition looms and Kai's raw ear starts outpacing Shuhei's years of training.
