Synopsis
"The Class" (Klass, 2007) is an Estonian drama you can watch online on iFILM — a film about school bullying that works precisely because it refuses to resolve. Director Ilmar Raag doesn't explain the why, and doesn't offer a lesson.
Josef gets humiliated every day in his Tallinn high school. He never retaliates, which only gives the others room to go further. His classmate Kaspar steps in to defend him. One decision, and the class fractures: now both of them are targets. Vallo Kirsipuu and Pärt Uusberg play the two in a register that stays unnervingly quiet — not rage, just two people methodically running out of options.
The film won festival prizes across Europe and was Estonia's official Oscar submission for Best Foreign Language Film. The tagline is "There's nowhere to hide" — though what lingers is how visible everything is, and how thoroughly ignored. Stream "The Class" (2007) online on iFILM.
