Synopsis
English Vinglish (इंग्लिश विंग्लिश, 2012) is an Indian family comedy-drama directed by Gauri Shinde that you can watch online on iFILM. When she travels alone to New York to help with a niece's wedding, Manhattan turns into an accidental classroom. Shridevi, returning to cinema after fifteen years away, plays Shashi with a restraint that makes every small victory land hard. The English lessons she signs up for in secret become something larger: a chance to figure out who she is outside her family's lowered expectations.
Gauri Shinde keeps the film from tipping into sentiment by trusting ordinary moments — a mispronounced order, an unexpected act of kindness from strangers — to carry the weight.
