Dr. Strange (1978) is a made-for-TV fantasy adventure from Universal that you can watch online on iFILM. Long before Marvel built its screen empire, this is where the Sorcerer Supreme first turned up in live action.

Stephen Strange (Peter Hooten) is a young psychiatrist with no idea he's next in line to guard Earth against the dark. He learns fast. Morgan le Fay (Jessica Walter) is sent up from the astral plane on a three-day clock to kill the aging sorcerer Lindmer and the heir to his power before either can be ready. Philip DeGuere Jr. directs, with screen veteran John Mills as the old mage. The disco-era effects and synth spells date it badly, yet for Marvel completists it's a genuine curio — proof of just how strange the character's road to the screen really was.
