Synopsis
20th Century Girl (2022) is Bang Woo-ri's South Korean romance, ready to watch online on iFILM. It's 1999 in a small town, and schoolgirl Bo-ra makes her best friend one promise before the friend leaves for surgery abroad: find out everything about the boy she's fallen for.
Bo-ra sets out to keep tabs on him, gets close to the wrong boy by mistake, and then realizes she's the one falling in love. Video tapes, pagers, late-'90s pop and a first crush too scary to confess out loud — the film nails the texture of life just before smartphones. Kim Yoo-jung plays first love so tenderly that the ending, even as you see it coming, still catches you off guard.
