Dance Flick

Dance Flick (2009) is a Wayans family spoof comedy you can watch online on iFILM. Directed by Damien Wayans with Marlon, Shawn, and Keenen Ivory Wayans all in the mix, the film takes aim at every dance movie Hollywood produced in the decade before it — Step Up, Dirty Dancing, Save the Last Dance, and anything else that ever cut from a pirouette to a street cypher. Street dancer Thomas falls for newcomer Megan, and together they set their sights on the big battle. That's the frame. The jokes are the point.

Some gags land hard, some go wide, and the Wayans have never much cared which. The fun here is the density of the parody — multiple targets per scene, a hip-hop ballet mash-up that shouldn't work as long as it does, and a family cast that clearly enjoyed the shoot.
