Synopsis
"Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat" (1999) is a filmed stage musical by Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice, available to watch online on iFILM. Donny Osmond plays Joseph, Richard Attenborough narrates, and Joan Collins takes every scene she's in as Mrs. Potiphar.
Jacob's favorite son receives a coat of many colors. His brothers, sick with envy, sell him into slavery and ship him to Egypt, where he ends up a servant, then a prisoner. He can interpret dreams — which turns out to be the only skill that matters once he reaches Pharaoh's court. Lloyd Webber and Rice built the show around songs that draw from calypso, country, and rock and roll, all in 81 minutes, all from a story in Genesis.
The musical started as a school performance in London in 1968 and has never really stopped running somewhere in the world since. This filmed version captures why: simple story, bright songs, a lead who commits completely. Stream "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat" (1999) on iFILM.
