Synopsis
At the Earth's Core (1976) is a British-American fantasy adventure you can watch online on iFILM. Kevin Connor adapted it from Edgar Rice Burroughs' novel about the underground realm of Pellucidar. It's the late 1800s, and a drilling machine called the Iron Mole is ready for its first test run.
Inventor Dr. Abner Perry, played by Peter Cushing, and his American partner David Innes (Doug McClure) lose control of the craft and bore straight through the planet's crust. What waits below is a twilight world of dinosaurs, man-eating plants and winged telepathic beasts who keep humans as slaves. Among the captives is Princess Dia, played by Caroline Munro, and rescuing her is what drags the pair into the fight.
This is old-fashioned pulp sci-fi from the era when monsters were built from rubber and nerve rather than pixels. It's a treat for fans of naive 1970s adventure and the retro charm of Amicus Productions. Stream At the Earth's Core (1976) online on iFILM.
