Synopsis
Karla (2006) is a crime drama you can watch online on iFILM. It reconstructs one of Canada's darkest cases — a married couple who, in the early 1990s, kidnapped, assaulted, and killed teenage girls. The script pieces the story together from investigation files and the woman's own prison testimony.
Laura Prepon plays Karla Homolka; Misha Collins is her husband, Paul Bernardo. Much of the film unfolds inside a cell, where Karla walks a psychologist through how she ended up beside a killer and why she helped him — even handing over her own younger sister. Director Joel Bender keeps the tone cold and almost clinical, refusing the viewer any relief.
The movie is controversial: critics argued it views the horror through the accomplice's eyes and sidelines the victims. Yet as a study of co-dependency and how an ordinary-seeming woman becomes a predator's shadow, Karla lands harder than most horror. Not for the faint-hearted. Stream Karla (2006) online on iFILM.
