Synopsis
The Cry (2018) is a four-part miniseries co-produced by BBC One and ABC Australia, available to watch online on iFILM. A young couple — Joanna and Alistair — fly into a small coastal town near Melbourne with their infant. The baby disappears that same day.
Jenna Coleman carries the series as Joanna, simultaneously a grieving mother and the person the media has already decided to blame. Director Glendyn Ivin cuts between timelines, shuttling between the immediate aftermath and a court hearing set later, which keeps the audience perpetually off-balance. Ewen Leslie plays the husband with the same careful ambiguity — nobody here gets a clean alibi.
