Helsinki, the first months after the war. Tove wants to be taken seriously as a painter, and the tales of round white creatures she sketches almost as an afterthought are the ones destined to make her famous everywhere. Off the canvas she lives boldly for her time: an affair with a married politician, then a consuming romance with theater director Vivica Bandler that reshapes both her love life and her art. Alma Pöysti plays her without a trace of museum-piece reverence.
