Synopsis
Pippi Goes on Board (Här kommer Pippi Långstrump, 1969) is a Swedish family film you can watch online on iFILM. It's the third big outing for the strongest girl alive — the one who lifts her horse with one arm and answers to no grown-up at all.
Pippi lives by herself at Villa Villekulla, with a sea chest of gold coins and not a single rule to follow. Her mother is an angel in heaven; her father, a pirate king somewhere in the South Seas. Next door live the well-behaved Tommy and Annika, and the moment they step through Pippi's gate, an ordinary afternoon tips into glorious chaos. Inger Nilsson, red braids and mismatched stockings, became the face of Astrid Lindgren's heroine for generations.
Director Olle Hellbom filmed most of Lindgren's work, and his trademark blend of mischief and quiet longing runs through every scene.
