Synopsis
Spinning Man (2018) is a psychological thriller you can watch online, and it hands Guy Pearce one of his trickiest roles. He plays Evan Birch, a philosophy professor who teaches students that truth is whatever you spin it to be. When a young woman from his campus vanishes, that idea stops being an abstraction.
Detective Malloy, played with cold patience by Pierce Brosnan, keeps circling back to the same gaps in Evan's story. The trouble is that Evan can't fully account for himself either — his recollection of the missing girl shifts every time he reaches for it. Minnie Driver plays the wife who wants to believe him while the evidence quietly stacks up. Adapted from George Harrar's novel, the film skips chases and shootouts and bets everything on doubt: an unreliable narrator who may be deceiving himself first.
