Synopsis
Udta Punjab (2016) is an Indian crime drama from director Abhishek Chaubey, available to watch online on iFILM. Four lives collide around a single crisis — the drug epidemic tearing through the state of Punjab.
Rock star Tommy Singh (Shahid Kapoor) is drowning in cocaine and losing everything fame ever bought him. A migrant girl from Bihar (Alia Bhatt) stumbles onto a hidden stash of heroin and falls into a nightmare with almost no way out. A doctor (Kareena Kapoor Khan) and a straight-arrow cop (Diljit Dosanjh) work from opposite ends to choke off a trade that feeds far too many people. Their stories braid together slowly before locking into one.
The film barely reached theaters: censors demanded cuts to its Punjab references and dozens of scenes, the fight went to court, and the movie became a rallying point for free expression in Indian cinema.
