Synopsis

Anthony Bourdain: No Reservations Season 1 (2005) — nine episodes to watch online on iFILM. The debut route: Paris, Iceland, New Jersey, Vietnam, Malaysia, Sicily, Las Vegas, Uzbekistan, New Zealand.

At each stop Bourdain goes looking for the same thing: real food, not the version designed for visitors. He explores the Paris catacombs, orders absinthe, and spends a night in the room where Oscar Wilde died. Iceland in midwinter means four hours of daylight and a lesson in how darkness shapes what people eat. Sicily is tripe at the II Capo Market and a hunt for the island's best cannoli. In New Zealand, Bourdain walks out of a gourmet food convention to find out how people actually cook in Christchurch.

Season 1 is rougher than what came later, and that's the point — Bourdain is road-testing his instincts and you can tell. Stream Anthony Bourdain: No Reservations Season 1 online on iFILM.
