Synopsis
The Confessions (Le confessioni, 2016) is an Italian-French thriller you can watch online on iFILM. Finance ministers and central bankers gather at a seaside German hotel to decide the fate of the global economy.
Among the guests is a silent Italian monk in a white robe, invited by Daniel Rochè, head of the IMF. Rochè wants a confession that night, and he wants it kept secret. By morning he's dead, and the monk is the prime suspect. Investigators lean on him to hand over the recording of that confession, but he won't talk — the seal of the confessional matters more to him than his own freedom. Toni Servillo plays him still and tight-lipped, surrounded by Daniel Auteuil, Connie Nielsen and Pierfrancesco Favino.
Director Roberto Andò is less interested in who killed Rochè than in conscience and the cost of decisions made behind closed doors. Quiet, ironic, slow-burning — built for viewers who like tension that lives in conversation. Stream The Confessions (2016) online on iFILM.
