Synopsis
Ronal the Barbarian (Ronal Barbaren, 2011) is a Danish animated fantasy romp you can watch online on iFILM. Ronal is the runt of a tribe of muscle-bound barbarians: skinny, timid and desperate to be left alone.
When the warlord Volcazar carries off the whole clan to sacrifice them to ancient gods, Ronal is the only one left standing. Saving everyone falls to him, backed by a cowardly bard, a fierce warrior woman named Zandra and a metrosexual elf called Elric. The quest goes about as smoothly as you'd expect.
Three directors turned every Conan cliché into a crude, knowing parody — the look is cartoonish, but the jokes are firmly grown-up, the tagline's "for the whole family" pitch aside.
