Peace! Friendship! Chewing Gum! (Mir! Druzhba! Zhvachka!, 2020) is a Russian coming-of-age drama with a comic edge that you can watch online on iFILM. A grey provincial town, autumn 1993. Fourteen-year-old Sanka Ryabinin lives an ordinary teenage life — hanging around the yard with his mates, dodging local hooligans, refusing music lessons, unsure which grown-up is worth copying.

At home there's an honest but broke family: a shop-clerk mother and a lecturer father. On the other side waits the dangerous orbit of Uncle Alik, an Afghan war veteran who plays by his own rules. And then there's Zhenya, the neighbour girl whose arrival sets off a chain of events nobody can take back. Fleeing a gang, Sanka steals a crime boss's car, and his whole world collapses in a single day — leaving him to decide who to become while an entire country falls apart around him.

Directed by Ilya Aksenov, the cast features Yura Borisov, Alexander Polovtsev, Larisa Udovichenko and young Egor Gubarev as Sanka.
