Synopsis
Patriarch's Ponds, pricey apartments, spotless façades — and behind every one of them an indecent secret. Unprincipled (2020) is a satirical Russian series you can watch online on iFILM. It's an anthology of short stories about Moscow's well-heeled set, the kind who talk about high culture in public and do something else entirely behind closed doors.
Each episode is a self-contained sketch — tender one minute, outrageous the next, always about the things nobody says out loud. Affairs, disastrous dates, other people's secrets surfacing at the worst possible moment. The show adapts the sharp short stories of Alexander Tsypkin, and his trademark voice — mockery without a moral — comes through intact. A deep ensemble carries it: Pavel Derevyanko, Oksana Akinshina, Pavel Tabakov, Maxim Vitorgan, Ingeborga Dapkunaite and Yuri Kolokolnikov.
Director Roman Prygunov keeps a light, almost anecdotal rhythm, so each story plays like a witty tale told over a late dinner. The angle is simple: this is comedy aimed not at villains but at ordinary "decent" people quietly embarrassed by themselves. Made for fans of grown-up city humor with no prudishness.
