Synopsis
"Quiz" (2020) is a British ITV miniseries you can watch online on iFILM — Stephen Frears' adaptation of James Graham's stage play about the most audacious scam in game-show history.
In 2001, former Army major Charles Ingram sat down in the Who Wants to Be a Millionaire? hot seat and walked away with £1 million. Then the producers reviewed the tapes. A man in the audience had been coughing — precisely, repeatedly, at exactly the right answers. Matthew Macfadyen plays Ingram, Helen McCrory his wife Diana, and Michael Sheen is electric as host Chris Tarrant, forced to smile through every question while something felt very wrong.
Graham built the script from actual court transcripts, and Frears shot it with the tempo of a thriller. When the series aired in April 2020, YouGov ran a live poll alongside the broadcast — and found the British public still split on guilt.
