Synopsis

Annette and Jean fall in love in the spring of 1942, young enough to believe the occupation will leave their private lives alone. Jean's parents — played by Julie Gayet and Laurent Lucas — are not soldiers or ideologues; they are simply people unwilling to accept a Jewish daughter-in-law. Placing a call costs them almost nothing. Ilona Bachelier carries Annette through the whole film with a lightness that makes what follows harder to absorb.
