Synopsis
Normandy Nude (Normandie Nue, 2018) is a French comedy-drama from director Philippe Le Guay, and you can watch online on iFILM. In the small Norman village of Le Mêle-sur-Sarthe, an agricultural crisis is quietly pushing farming families to the brink.
Mayor Georges Balbuzard (François Cluzet) refuses to let his village fade away. When a celebrated American photographer (Toby Jones), known for shooting crowds in the buff out in the open, passes through, Balbuzard hatches a desperate scheme: convince the whole village to strip for a single photograph and finally drag the region's plight into the headlines. Talking proud, weathered farmers out of their clothes in the middle of a field, though, proves far harder than he bargained for.
The film moves between gentle laughs and a real concern for the dying countryside and the debts crushing its farmers. It's warm, unhurried storytelling for anyone who enjoys bittersweet French rural comedies. Stream Normandy Nude (2018) online on iFILM.
