Directed by Dan Kraus, The Anthrax Attacks: In the Shadow of 9/11 (2022) is a documentary you can watch online on iFILM. Weeks after the September 11 attacks, envelopes loaded with anthrax spores moved through the US postal system — to newsrooms, to Senate offices. Five people died. Seventeen more were infected.
The FBI launched what became codenamed Amerithrax, one of the longest domestic-terror investigations in the bureau's history. Seven years of chasing suspects eventually narrowed to a government microbiologist at Fort Detrick, Maryland. Clark Gregg and Peri Gilpin narrate the dramatic reconstructions; archival footage brings in Rudy Giuliani and George W. Bush. Kraus builds a tight procedural rhythm without letting the human toll of those weeks disappear behind the case file. The fall of 2001 had two chapters. This film makes you feel both.
