Synopsis
Prison in the Andes (Penal Cordillera, 2024) is a Chilean-Brazilian drama directed by Felipe Carmona — watch it online on iFILM. Five former military officers convicted of crimes carried out under Pinochet serve their multi-century sentences in a facility at the foot of the Andes that functions more like a retreat: gardens, a pool, guards who work as domestic staff.
A television interview ends the arrangement — or threatens to. One officer casually compares the prison to a hotel, and the public reaction forces the authorities to consider a real transfer. Men who once ordered executions now scramble to protect their comfort. Andrew Bargsted and Hugo Medina anchor an ensemble cast that plays every scene with the right kind of cold.
Carmona walks the line between political satire and something genuinely disturbing — impunity dressed up as bureaucracy, wearing a mountain view. Stream Prison in the Andes (2024) on iFILM.
