To clear his name, Gorbatov accepts a posting no one else wanted: commanding an experimental unit made up entirely of ex-convicts. Roman Ageyev, Dmitry Belyakin and Alexei Belozertev play men who know the criminal world from the inside — their value is their past. Keeping them in line is its own investigation. Director Andrei Averkov doesn't let Gorbatov off easy: the series keeps asking what the rules are actually for when they stop being useful.
