Brothers

Brothers (Баурылар, 2022) is a Kazakhstani drama you can watch online on iFILM, directed by Darkhan Tulegenov. Akzhol has just walked out of an orphanage with nothing: no money, no housing, and a habit of petty theft keeping him upright. He sets out to find his father.

What he finds instead is a brother. Dalen grew up in the same country but in a different world — taken as a child by a family wealthy enough to give him what the state couldn't. The film isn't interested in tidy contrasts between privilege and hardship. It's about two people who share blood and almost nothing else, slowly working out what that actually means to either of them.
