Synopsis
Franz (2025) is a biographical drama from Agnieszka Holland you can watch online on iFILM. It circles Franz Kafka but skips the cradle-to-grave template, building instead a mosaic of fragments that runs from the Prague of the late 1800s where he was born to the Vienna where he died after the First World War.
Holland doesn't try to fully decode him. She catches Kafka as those around him saw him — an insurance clerk who wrote after dark, barely published in his own lifetime, and quietly rewired modern literature. Idan Weiss plays Kafka, with Peter Kurth, Katharina Stark and Ivan Trojan alongside.
