Synopsis

A weathered mechanic lives alone at the edge of a small town. He fixes engines by day and, on the quiet, puts down sick and aging pets for owners who won't pay the vet. People leave him cold. Animals don't. Then a brutish local drops off a perfectly healthy dog to be killed — and the mechanic can't do it. He hides the animal away. The owner finds out, and things turn very ugly.
Nikki built something cruel and oddly tender at once: a revenge story where the only blameless soul on screen has four legs. The film picked up genre-festival prizes and a cult following among fans of grim Nordic cinema. Dry humor, a slow-tightening coil of menace — that's the appeal.
