The Pit

The Pit (1981) is a Canadian horror-comedy oddity you can watch online on iFILM. Twelve-year-old Jamie Benjamin is bullied by everyone in town, and his only real confidant is a teddy bear that talks back.

Out in the woods Jamie finds a deep pit. At the bottom live four hungry trog-like creatures he names the Trogs. Once he links to them telepathically, he learns one thing: they always need feeding. First he steals cash for butcher's meat. Then he starts luring the people who wronged him to the edge and pushing them in. Director Lew Lehman keeps the tone slippery, half coming-of-age tale, half nasty fairy story.

Sammy Snyders plays Jamie as a kid you can't quite read — victim or budding killer — while Jeannie Elias is the babysitter who notices too late.
