Synopsis
It's 1944, in a Moldovan village just freed by the Soviet Army — that's the setting of My Mother Gave Birth to Me Happy... (1981), a war drama you can watch online on iFILM, directed by Boris Durov. A young teacher arrives at the local school and sets about starting a Pioneer troop.
The plan looks harmless enough, but the school principal stands in his way — and a hidden fascist agent stands behind the principal. So a story about a classroom becomes a quiet manhunt: the teacher, his pupils and the local police slowly corner the enemy. The early postwar years are shown without big battle scenes, through children forced to grow up too fast.
