Synopsis

When the Tatar khansha Taidula goes blind and no healer in the steppe can help, the court summons Alexius, Metropolitan of Moscow, whose reputation as a miracle-worker has traveled far. He cannot refuse — the fate of the Moscow principality hangs on his answer. Andrei Proshkin sends his priest into a harsh, alien world governed by its own brutal logic, where faith offers no guarantees and a miracle refuses to arrive on command.
Maxim Sukhanov plays Alexius, with Andrei Panin, Vitaly Khaev, Alexander Yatsenko and a remarkable Roza Khairullina as Taidula. The film paints the Horde not as cartoon villains but as a vast, frightening, fully realized empire.
