Synopsis
Frozen (2022) is a bleak Russian crime series you can watch online on iFILM. On a snowbound highway near the northern town of Kostomuksha, police uncover the iced-over body of a naked woman. She is the wife of senior investigator Evgeny Rudin.
From there the law stops mattering to him. Blinded by rage, Rudin launches his own hunt for the killer, and the people caught in his path aren't only the guilty ones. His partner, quietly in love with him, tries to pull him back from vengeance; he refuses every hand offered. The murders keep coming, Rudin is suspended, and his adopted teenage son turns away after losing his mother. The one person left at his side is Mitya, a morgue attendant haunted by hallucinations and a terrible story of his own. Artyom Bystrov and Elena Tronina take the lead roles.
The series comes from Adilkhan Yerzhanov, and his fingerprints are all over it: frozen landscapes, gallows humour, characters teetering on the edge. This is no cosy procedural but a dark study of what the thirst for payback does to a man. A good fit if you like cold, oppressive noir without tidy endings.
