Synopsis
Ondskan — Evil (2023) — is a Swedish drama series you can watch online on iFILM. Sixteen-year-old Erik is expelled from his Stockholm school for fighting and transferred to Stjernsberg, a boarding school out in the countryside. Last chance. The teachers have written him off. Stjernsberg turns out to be worse than anything he left — older students run a nightly regime of beatings the staff choose not to see.
Directors Erik Leijonborg and Daniel di Grado adapt Jan Guillou's novel — the book behind Sweden's Oscar-nominated 2003 film of the same name. Isac Calmroth plays Erik; Gustaf Skarsgård is part of the ensemble. The series presses a question the original film only hinted at: is Erik the "absolute evil" his teachers call him, or someone who learned violence from every adult who was supposed to protect him?
