Synopsis
Runaway Relatives (2016) is a Russian sitcom you can watch online on iFILM. The setup is almost a joke in itself: a young man is about to get married when the family he's spent years hiding from crashes through his door.
Dima (Dmitry Endaltsev) makes his own living and pointedly refuses to use his father's name — and that father is the oligarch Boris Chuikin (Sergei Zhigunov), currently wanted over a collapsed construction pyramid scheme. Now the runaway dad, a scatterbrained mother and a snooty sister all pile into Dima's tidy bachelor flat at once. Worse still, his fiancée Yulia's parents are among the very investors Chuikin swindled. Dima has to keep two warring camps under one roof and feed relatives who've never learned to go without.
The show runs on Zhigunov's charm as a lovable con man and on steady sitcom chaos, with a fresh disaster cooking in every episode. Zhanna Epple and Agrippina Steklova fill out the household. Easy evening watching, no pretensions. Stream Runaway Relatives online on iFILM.
