There's never enough money, never enough beds, never enough hands — and the patients keep arriving anyway. A frazzled senior nurse tries to keep the floor running, an aggressively upbeat executive director spouts wellness slogans nobody asked for, and the doctors and nurses bounce between IV drips and their own small disasters. Everyone finds a moment to glance at the camera with a dry, exhausted aside.

Created by Justin Spitzer of Superstore, the show wears its DNA openly: gentle, affectionate jokes about ordinary people stuck inside a broken system. The cast features Wendi McLendon-Covey, Allison Tolman, Josh Lawson and David Alan Grier.
