Synopsis
The Murderer's Diary (2002) is a Russian crime drama series directed by Kirill Serebrennikov — stream it online on iFILM. The cast includes Galina Kashkovskaya, Kirill Pirogov, Alexei Guskov, Dmitry Maryanov, and Alexandra Kulikova.
A group of graduating students throw a party in the archive halls of a Moscow history museum and turn up a notebook from 1919. The author confesses to five murders on the opening page. At first it reads as a relic of a violent era. Then the links to present-day crimes start emerging, and the eighty-year-old confessions become a map to an active killer.
This was one of Serebrennikov's earliest screen works, made before he became the dominant figure in contemporary Russian theatre.
