Synopsis
Kuprin (2014) is a Russian dramatic miniseries you can watch online on iFILM, adapting three works by Alexander Kuprin — Yama, Vpotmakh and Poedinok. Three directors share the project: Vlad Furman, Andrei Malyukov and Andrei Eshpay.
The series weaves characters from different Kuprin novellas into pre-revolutionary Russia. In Yama, the lovestruck clerk Zheltkov from The Garnet Bracelet crosses into the underworld; in Vpotmakh, a tiger trainer named Zenida fights a humiliating entanglement; in Poedinok, honour and cowardice meet head-on in a military garrison. Kuprin himself steps into the frame, encountering his own fictional people. The ensemble — Mikhail Porechenkov, Elizaveta Boyarskaya, Evgeny Tsyganov, Anton Shagin, Maxim Averin — is the kind rarely assembled for a single project.
