Shubert (2018) is a Russian crime thriller series available to watch online on iFILM. Aleksandr Bertenev — nicknamed Shubert — has a gift that can't be taught: he hears what others miss, and from any phone recording he can pin down where the call was made, when, and roughly what state the speaker was in. He spent years in a counter-terrorism unit before one bad judgment call forced him out.
Then his wife Olga is killed, and the investigation turns personal in the worst possible way. The woman he thought was an ordinary psychologist had been running a double life — and left behind a set of encoded audio ciphers after her death. Directed by Yevgeny Bedarev, the series is built around a detective whose only real advantage is listening harder than anyone else in the room.
