The Quarry

A man running from his own crimes kills a preacher on the road and takes his place in a small Texas border town where no one has ever seen the reverend. The congregation warms to his raw, off-kilter sermons. The town's police chief — played by Michael Shannon — circles quietly, something not quite adding up. The longer the impersonator preaches from the pulpit, the more the buried weight of what he actually did presses down on him.
