Synopsis
Everything Is Illuminated (2005) is a drama laced with comedy you can watch online on iFILM. It marks actor Liev Schreiber's directing debut, adapted from Jonathan Safran Foer's novel.
Jonathan, a young American who labels every family keepsake in its own little bag, played by Elijah Wood, travels to Ukraine. He is hunting for the woman in a faded photo, the one who hid his grandfather from the Nazis in a village that the war later wiped off the map. His guides are an odd pair: a grumpy grandfather who drives while claiming to be blind, his grandson Alex, who mangles English in glorious ways, and a dog named Sammy Davis Jr. Jr.
What starts as a road-trip comedy quietly turns into a story about memory and what gets lost. The soundtrack comes from Gogol Bordello, whose frontman Eugene Hutz plays Alex himself. Stream Everything Is Illuminated (2005) online on iFILM.
